At Letters and Keys, we are committed to providing a safe, positive and supportive learning environment for every student. We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and follow best-practice guidance to ensure the welfare of all children and young people who attend our lessons.
We prioritise the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every learner.
We maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
We act promptly on any safeguarding or welfare concerns.
We work in partnership with parents/guardians to support each student.
All lessons take place in an environment that is safe, respectful and free from harm.
A parent or guardian must remain in the home during in-home lessons, unless agreed in writing.
For online lessons, the parent/guardian should be nearby and aware the lesson is taking place.
We ensure all teaching is appropriate, transparent and conducted openly.
We do not record lessons or take photographs/videos of students without explicit written permission from the student or a parent/guardian if the student is not an adult.
Students may request a recording for learning purposes (online lessons only); this will only be produced with consent.
Tutors follow safeguarding good practice, including:
Using appropriate language and behaviour.
Avoiding physical contact unless necessary for musical guidance, and only with consent.
Ensuring all communication with students remains professional and lesson-related.
Any concerns about a student’s safety or wellbeing will be taken seriously.
Where appropriate, we may discuss concerns with parents/guardians.
If there is a risk of harm, we may seek advice or report concerns to relevant safeguarding authorities in line with UK safeguarding guidance.
At times, lessons may be delivered by a cover teacher, we will provide advance notice.
All cover teachers supporting Letters and Keys follow the same safeguarding standards.
