1. About Us

Letters and Keys (“we”, “our”, “us”) provides tuition and professional services in London and online.

2. Lessons Offered

• Music lesson

• Other tuition

• Option of online or in-person lessons depending on the student’s needs

• Music lessons will be taught by tutors with Grade 7 ABRSM standard, unless agreed otherwise.

3. Fees & Payment

• Fees are payable Termly or monthly in advance.

• Payment methods: bank transfer

• Lessons are billed based on school-term weeks unless otherwise agreed.  

• Late payments (more than 7 days overdue) may result in suspension of lessons until settled.

4. Cancellations & Missed Lessons

4.1  Student Cancellation

• 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellation.

• Lessons cancelled with more than 24 hours’ notice may be rescheduled subject to availability.

• Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full.

4.2 Tutor Cancellation and Tutor Absences

• If we cancel a lesson, a rescheduled lesson or a full refund/credit will be offered.

• Tutor is entitled to annual leave, therefore from time to time, lessons may be taught by a cover tutor to ensure continuity of learning.  Cover tutors will be appropriately trained and briefed to maintain the teaching standards of Letters and Keys. You will be informed in advance whenever possible.

5. Attendance & Punctuality

• Lessons will start and finish at the scheduled time.

• A late arrival cannot extend the lesson beyond the booked slot.

• Parents are responsible for ensuring the student attends on time.

6. Safeguarding & Supervision

• A responsible adult must be present in the home unless otherwise agreed in writing.

• For students aged 14+, solo lessons are allowed only after written parental consent.

• For online lessons, the parent/guardian must be aware and reachable during the session.

• Students must behave respectfully and follow tutor instructions.

7. Practising & Progress

• Progress depends on regular practice.

• We recommend at least 10–20 minutes per day for beginners (adjusted by level).

• We cannot guarantee exam results, though we will support students following ABRSM syllabuses.

8. Exams, Books & Materials

• Any exam fees (e.g., ABRSM), books, or materials are payable by the student/parent.

• We will always inform parents before purchasing any additional materials.

9. Data Protection & Privacy

• We only collect information necessary for lesson delivery 

• Information is stored securely and will not be shared with third parties except where legally required.

• Parents may request deletion or correction of their data at any time.

10. Photography & Recordings

• We do not record lessons or take photos without written permission.

• Parents may not record lessons without prior agreement.

11. Lesson Environment

• For in-home piano lessons, parents should ensure:

  • A safe, clean environment

  • A working piano/keyboard

  • Minimal noise/distractions

• For online lessons, students/parents must ensure provide:

  • A stable internet connection

  • A suitable device (laptop/tablet preferred)

  • A quiet learning space

12. Termination of Lessons

• Either party may end lessons with 2 weeks’ notice ahead of the new term.

• Any outstanding fees must be settled before lessons end.

13. Health & Safety

• Please notify us of any medical, learning or behavioural needs so we can support the student appropriately.

• We reserve the right to end a lesson early if there is unsafe behaviour.

14. Liability

• We are not liable for:

  • Loss or damage to personal items

  • Injuries arising from unsafe home environments

• Our liability is limited to the value of the lesson fees paid for the specific period in question.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. You will receive written notice of any changes.
